i wrote this about a week ago,.. i wrote more just now, but of course it didn't sav and now i'm too tired/angry to rewrite it all.
I think i appreciate my friends more the older i get. heck, i appreciate anyone who still considers me a pal after listening to one of my crazy/interesting dilemmas/stories or after a night of heavy drinking with me. SSS! :) life is good.
I had a great hour long conversation with my ma today about careers, being broke, getting married, and how i have goals. haha. While talking about how all my 2nd cousins who are my age are now married my ma tells me that while i'm not getting any younger, i'm trying to make a life/career for myself and that i didn't work that hard and spend that much money to work somewhere like JCP for the rest of my life while paying off my student loans. HAHA. gosh, i wish i could direct quote how she put all of that. it was soo funny, but soo true. it's not that i feel behind because i'm not married, it's just weird that everyone around me is doing all that and i just want to be successful in the fashion industry. A lot of people give up too soon. then again, i guess some people are content where they are.. i just want more. My ma did tell me a hundred times that i need to find someone. haha. she's so weird. i know she'd be all pissy if i started seriously dating someone again. anyone want to guess where i get my wishy-washyness from? we have this conversation at least once a month. today i was having a sad day, and when i feel all lame, i call my ma. our chats always cheer me up and somehow inspire me... even if she lectures me a lot.
We talked about how I want to buy a pair of Christian Louboutin's. She had no clue who he was until I said "you know, the shoes with the red soles." She says, "Oh! the ones Oprah wears. You know I could paint the bottom of some shoes red for very cheap." 'HAHA! Ma, that's not the same!' "It's just a name, Shannon. How about that Alexander guy? Who does that?!" 'Alexander McQueen! So sad.' "Who kills themselves because their mother died?!" 'Well, what do you think i'm going to do when you die?' "you better not!!" 'but you're my everything, ma! if you die, i don't have anything else going on' "don't talk like that! haha" (and keeps saying something about me having kids)

If i get food poisoning one more time!!! grrrrr!
I had a great post started, but computer decided it needed to restart itself for some crazy reason. ugh, just another reason why i hate pc's!... even if this computer is super cute and weighs 2lbs.
Yep. so i puked all over myself on the way to work the other day. AWESOME! oh, and i was covered... and super smelly. my poor peacoat and Kenneth Cole boots :( and i guess hair, too! My body pretty much hates living here. It's trying to reject itself out of nyc. bummer.
I made a new friend the other day!!! woohoo!! we got the biggest margarita's i've ever seen. MMM. the drinks were rather cheap. That was at Dallas BBQ in Times Sq. I may or may not have gotten a little tipsy.
This week has been pretty low-key for me. Today was the first day I haven't felt horrible.
My pal Kady will be in town this weekend, and I'm beyond excited. I'm glad I have a couple days off, so I'll get to see her a lot.
ugh, lame post. i'm tired.
so i've decided that i'm going to start writing a book soon. i've started planning out some sub-topics, and I think it's going to be hilarious.
yea, i have a lot more to talk about, but i'm too tired. sorry.
RIP Alexander McQueen.

"You have chocolate all over your face!!" hehe
SAGITTARIUS: “Baby steps” is the best approach in this situation. Even if you want to waltz right in you don’t have the capacity to move freely and you are totally unfamiliar with the territory. In addition to that, whoever’s out there isn’t quite sure about you and they are even less sure about themselves. The last thing you need is to get hooked up with yet another loser who doesn’t know what’s going on. It’s OK to get acquainted, but as soon as you get a faint whiff of dishonesty or insecurity trust your instincts enough to know that you’d be better off elsewhere.
--haha. oh, Cal! this should be fun. ;)
Tried on some Christian Louboutin's today. ::sigh:: yep, i must buy a pair as soon as I can almost afford them! haha. :)
Last night I went out with Amit and Russell. We tried going to Art Bar, but it (and every other place in the general area) was packed :( So we went to Asian 289 (best review of the place) We went there 1. because it said "ASIAN" in huge letters across the place, 2. we had no other options, and 3. not too shabby drink specials. On the food menu was Italian and different forms of Asian (thai and indian). Weirdest, coolest place ever and the food prices were amazing! I paid $8 for a huge plate of Thai Chicken. It was delightful, but not as delightful as the huge "wafel" I got afterward!! mmm waffle cart, appropriately named "Wafels & Dinges." Yea, I grabbed one of their business cards. Apparently they have a website, a hot-wafel-line #, as well as a twitter. HECK YES!! Yep. best waffle ever. I will be going there asap.
Cheap vodka has a way of catching up with you. well, vodka in general has a way of catching up with you, but that's not the point right now. ha. 3:30 a.m. rolls around and my stomach decided to remind me of how cheap that vodka was. I didn't get sick or anything, it was just that nasty reminder you get after drinking something god awful. we've all been there.
I think 5th Ave is TOO overwhelming for me. Too many cool stores and too many people. I still wonder how Juicy Couture gets away with being called Juicy "Couture" when there is nothing couture about it!! that's annoying. Most people who buy Juicy likely have no clue what the word "couture" means. poor things. poor slaves to "fashion." Eh, I can't lie, I do enjoy a few Juicy things...
I'm so exhausted. Tomorrow should be entertaining. first work, then drinks. haha. oh, i'm going to get kidnapped in this big city.
me: "let's hope i don't get kidnapped!"
brit: "i'd listen to Cal."
brit: haha, good thing you're out there, for his sake anyway. oh j. and these are only things he's telling you about.
--hahahaha. (i'm documenting this for future reference and laughter)
T: i' never having sex again... without a condom or a plan B pill on hand.
---HAHA oh, my friends, and so ironic that the plan B pill was a friendly topic the other week.
i miss my pals.

Almonds are my weakness.
And so will be Chobani yogurt! SO much better than the crappy greek yogurt my ma tried to poison me with before I moved to nyc. haha. (britney, you should try it.)
I made a good mistake of going out on Saturday night with my old roomie, Sarah. I didn't get home until after 4 am. Guess who had to be at work by 7:45 am?! :( i slept 2 hrs, through on some jeans and left. i was back home from the meeting by 10:35 am and slept until 3pm. When I woke up, it was a total time warp... it felt like 10 am, but sadly it was time to go back to work. The paying job is going well. It's so weird to be one of the few native English speakers. Wish I would've kept up on my Spanish. darn.
Waffles at 4 am are the best kind of waffles... even if you did acquire 2 idiot guys along the way! hey, they paid for our cab! haha.
There wasn't much to do at the internship today, but I feel like i'm making a good impression on the people i work with :) Coterie, a tradeshow, is coming up the week after fashion week and I get to work at one of our booths :) AWESOME! then again, the tradeshow is one reason why the showroom even has interns. i'm excited to get to talk to a lot of buyers and be apart of the whole ordeal. Just knocking out goals I set for myself left and right. haha.
The Dirty Show XI is rapidl approaching in Detroit!! I'm SO sad that I'm going to miss it this year! I recommend that ALL my MI pals go to it! The artwork is amazing, creative, and a good mix of art and smut. I've always loved that the show is during V-day weekend.
An article that gets me a little upset is Name Brands v. Knock-Offs. I really can't believe some of the responses. I guess it's all about image to some people, when in a sense, that's not what it's all about. I really disagree with the woman that says she'd buy a knock-off because the average consumer wouldn't know the different. I really don't believe that's true... especially in NYC, of all places. Knock-offs steal a designers creativity and hardwork. A lot goes into designing and to have someone steal your idea and make little changes to it is outrageous. This also hurts these businesses. I don't really want to go on a rant about fakes and how it's wrong to support them, but read the article.. it's interesting.
