Now that I have the internet, on with the updates and rad-ness!

ok. i suck at this. I blame no Jan 2 post on Britney and her ability to make me consume too much water and vodka. haha. Ok, she only had a little to do with it. As she just told me "what happened to the other 27 days?" Good point. haha. Well life's been crazy and my weekends filled with water and vodka and sassy comments.

I up and moved to NYC on Saturday, January 16. The whole week before is quite the blur of hanging with pals, working everyday, going out on a hot date (haha) to the movies, britney leaving my trainwreck-self at steve's house, britney pawning me off on other people (HAHA), celebrating Kristal's bday!, and britney pretending to help me pack for the big move 6 hrs before my flight was scheduled to leave (plane left at 7 am! yikes!) :) Yea, i was too busy working and being social to pack. oh well.

NYC has been great so far. My internship is crazy, awesome, and the complete opposite of my last one. I have to do a lot of "bitch work," but I don't really mind. I actually find it to be quite humorous. :) I get to write purchase orders, prep samples to be sent to magazines and stores, and make phone calls to buyers a lot. Last week I gathered samples for Taylor Swift to wear in a photo shoot! That was pretty cool. I work with a lot of good lookin men my ma would love for me to marry or hook up with... too bad theyre all gay. yes, i said hook up. please remember the Michael Phelps talk my ma and I had 1.5 years ago. HAHA. hmm.. and feel free to come to your own conclusion on what hooking up means. lol. yea, my blog is going to prevent me fom landing a real job.

I've been hanging out with my glorious roommates/friends, Celeste and Bill, as well as my old roommate Sarah, from this past summer. hmm.. I got food poisoning last week after Celeste, Sarah and I went to Mama Mexico. Ugh, and I LOVE that place. Best guacamole ever! I'll go back there again.. I'm not mad, but I must say that food poisoning is at least 15x worse than a hangover. Hangovers are curable, food poisoning is not. gah.

Yesterday, it snowed. I walk out of my apt and see all these people carrying umbrellas like it's raining!!! I was thinking, "Crazy New Yorkers." Yea, I was saying that until I was walking the 4 avenues to my job. Damn snow was coming from every direction!! Somehow I managed to forget that the wind blows in all directions at once in NYC. You can never say, "there's a northeastern wind blowing," because it's not a NE wind, it's a NE, SE, NW, SW, and probably a usually non-existant EW and WE directions as well. I hate it. ha. Yep, and it was a blizzard. 1 hr after getting to work it had stopped snowing and all the snow had melted. What the heck NY?! I guess I'm not complaining though. I hate snow... unless skiing is involved. Or naked sledding. long story.

Fun things time!
ME to Brit: great! now that i commented on your Plan B  KO comment, I have ads on facebook about buying Plan B. haha.
(guess that's an upgrade from the rehab ads)

Brit: I love Canadian commercials... processed cheese and MK-Zed.
Me: Only letter you actually have to spell with other letters.. haha oh, zed.

Me to Brit: The mariachi band is playing the macarena. <3

The Bally on 55th and Madison is a disappointment... how out of shape i'm going to be due to this is also a disappointment. I'm trying to not go grocery shopping until Friday, when I get paid. Yep, I'm going to starve to death. hahaha.

i nearly lost all my fingers by going to the grocery store without gloves on. i stood outside my apt door for a few so i could somewhat regain feeling in my fingers to find the keys in my not-so-deep pockets. 15 mins later i read the receipt. free delivery for any purchase over $25. i spent over $60. fml. yep, it's going to be a $4 margarita kind of night.

haha. good times!!

Horoscope for last week:
You tend to overlook the obvious in situations where you’re emotionally involved. Don’t automatically assume that people mean what they say or have any means to back their promises. If you want to avoid an upset, wait until they mess up and deal with it then; but you’d do better to see if you can get them to show their true colors before they let you down. This is the last thing you need. For too long you’ve gotten suckered in by the same old story. Waltzing right into situations that are about to stir up the pot, do you really want to do this?

--hmm...

This week:
Everything seems to be up in the air or confused by circumstances that are beyond your control. Not knowing what’s going on is easier to live with once you figure out how to be OK with more than your share of uncertainties. One thing at a time is the name of the game right now. Nothing is clear enough to see which direction things will take. In a way this gives you a great excuse to slow down and stay cool. If you can put a lid on your expectations and do whatever it takes to amp up the joy quotient, this could turn out to be a wonderful ride.

gotta love Cal Garrison.

I'm going through William Fitzsimmons withdrawls :( damn pandora doesn't have any of his music!! guess i'll be watching youtube videos.

Alright... time to prepare myself for a night of fun :)

Life in the BIG Apple through my first day at KC

Moving in:
I moved into East Campus at Columbia University on Sunday, May 31. I definitely live with 5 other girls, none of which are fashion majors. I've never really lived with girls, so this summer should be rather interesting. Columbia's campus is beyond beautiful (pictures to come!). On move in day, my parents more or less unloaded my stuff into my dorm-ish apartment and left. haha.

Roommates:
I finally met my fifth roommate this evening. This happened after another roomie and I were walking back from to our apt from the subway right after I told her if I saw our other roomie I'd probably call the cops because I'd be thinking that she's trying to rob us or something haha. All my roommates seem really cool so far. I hang out with the two Sarah's the most. They go to college in Pittsburgh, so the Red Wings/ Penguins playoffs have been interesting to talk about. The Sarah's remind me of my girlfriends back in Michigan ::sad face::. So weird, none of my roommates are fashion majors. I was thinking that most of the people I was going to be living with would be fashion people.

Exploring:
Monday, June 1, I did lots of exploring. First I went to Central Park. I really think that place is unsafe no matter how bright it is outside. There's so many trails off the main paths in the woods. It's really creepy. I saw a large group of people painting in one corner of the park which was really neat to see. Then I went on the hunt to find Rite Aid. The walls of my room are so bare and disgusting that I had to do something about it. I ended up printing off a bunch of pics of the girls and I from home :) I miss them.
Some guy told me I had nice toes and that it means I take care of myself. HAHA. How do you respond to that?
I've found a lot of really great markets and fruit markets close to my apartment which is exciting. Yay for not having to put too much effort towards feeding myself.
After Rite Aid, I walked across town to get on the subway and head downtown to Times Square. Times Square is an utter nightmare. I'm so glad I live on the upper west side, it's just too crazy and tourist-filled down there. I did make sure to take lots of pictures to show all my pals. (I took a good picture for you, Kristal!) I walked around there for a bit and then decided to find where I'd be working. I don't work too far from Times Square, just a few blocks west. After finding KC, I looped back around to Times Square and saw a bunch of people sitting in lawn chairs all across Broadway. I still have no clue why. Like I said, it's pure madness down there. The streets were just covered with people.

First day on the job!!:
I SAW KENNETH COLE!!! He appeared to be in a meeting with some employees. How AWESOME is that?! Orientation was kind of cool. I really liked learning about all the other interns and where they're from. Quite a few of the girls are from NY or not too far away in Jersey.
My co-workers are all really cool. It was nice to finally put a face to a name of the girls I've been emailing with the past couple months. Everyone in my department, Distribution and Planning, are all rather young... or so they seem to be.
I work on "Intern Row." Intern row is a row of computers down a main hallway of the 2nd floor where a lot of interns are stationed at. Lucky for me, I actually work next to another girl who is also interning in the Distribution dept. Her and I got along great and chatted it up all day. Today I didn't do too much, I mostly did button mashing on my computer all day. For one task, I entered purchase order numbers for shoes into an excel spreadsheet for 3 new stores that are opening soon. Today was nice because I didn't feel overwhelmed. My coworkers were all very helpful and friendly, hopefully things stay that way if I start asking a million questions. The lady I'm working with is too cute. She's Dominican and I can barely understand what she says half the time and it's not because she's Dominican, she just speaks too quietly. She's in charge of the shoes! She had so many pairs of shoes on her desk, it was crazy. The other intern is working with the lady that deals with apparel.

Everything is going great in New York so far. I definitely recommend anyone that comes here to do one of the silly tourist bus tours. I learned so much about the city and got to see a lot of things, including parts of the garment district.

I probably left out some stuff, but it's time for bed.
